The Frontera Land Alliance September 2015 Update

The Frontera September 2015 Update

Our Wildlife – Our Water – Our Land

  • El Paso Water Utilities has invited Frontera to participate in a group to discuss a “preservation plan” for PSB-managed lands. We are excited to be invited and form part of this new group.

  • Due to the generosity of an anonymous donor we have received a check for $5,000 which allows us to apply to become accredited by the national Land Trust Alliance (LTA). Accreditation will inspire excellence, promote public trust, and ensure permanence in the conservation of open lands. Once accredited, Frontera will be recognized as a land trust that meets rigorous quality standards and strives for continuous improvement.

  • The Department of Defense’s Office of Economic Adjustment grant that was awarded in 2010 to study ways and means to conserve Castner Range has now officially come to an end. Even though funding has ended, we will continue working to educate others on the value that would be added to our community by conserving Castner Range. For all the work that Frontera has done on Castner Range (in collaboration with the Franklin Mountains Wilderness Coalition and Franklin Mountains State Park), please consult: http://fronteralandalliance.org/castner/

  • Frontera is now part of the County Employees Charitable Campaign and City Employee Combined Charities Campaign, for 2015. Look for our name on your employees’ giving form!

  • Fall is quickly approaching and it is time for our annual appeal to members as well as submitting grant requests to various foundations. In our annual letter we will be sharing information about our current projects and asking for your support to continue these efforts, specifically to grow the stewardship and endowment funds.
