Hard to believe we are over halfway through 2021! Over the past month, Frontera was highlighted at the Community Corner at the Chihuahuas Baseball game! Thank you, El Paso Chihuahuas! Then on June 8th, we celebrated the anniversary of the Antiquities Act! Our program manager, Maryflor Garcia, was a guest speaker at the virtual celebration with the Green Latinos National Organization. We were able to talk about the importance of making Castner Range a national monument. We continue to seek grant funding to increase our conservation programs to ensure we are working for the community today and for its future.

Castner Range update: Since the 1970s, our community has continued to show its dedication to the preservation of Castner Range. Congresswoman Escobar recently re-introduced legislation (HR 2752) to designate Castner Range as a National Monument. Representative. Escobar has been in touch with various national colleagues who have also expressed their support. To date, we have collected over 1,750 new signatures, in addition to the 35,000 signatures since 2016! We’re attending events to educate people about the benefits of a national monument to the community’s economy, cultural history, future generations, and how the preservation of the land will impact the area's water and wildlife. In addition, we are hiring two field operation positions for 3 to 4 months. If you are interested in applying, please reach out to: janae@fronteralandalliance.org

Knapp and Lost Dog Conservation Easement Update: Our natural landscapes not only provide us with places of great beauty, but they also play a critical role in providing habitat for wildlife, along with clean water, fresh air, and recreational opportunities. These are important community components companies look for when considering whether or not to relocate here. We will continue to work with and build new partnerships for the preservation of working farms, ranches, and open natural areas.
