Happy New Year! The Frontera Land Alliance has been very busy working non-stop in the efforts to make Castner Range a National Monument. We are working alongside the Franklin Mountains Wilderness Coalition, El Paso Community Foundation and the Conservation Lands Foundation
Background:
Congressman, Rep. O’Rourke introduced legislation late last year for Castner Range National Monument. We also are asking President Obama to declare Castner Range as a national monument through the Antiquities Act. Efforts are under way collecting local support from individuals & groups (business, veterans, faith-based, recreational groups, etc.) to show diverse, broad-based community support and desire to conserve this land in perpetuity.
Castner Range has significant evidence of ancient and historic cultural sites, stunning geological formations in addition to an amazing diversity of plants and animals located on the 7,000 acres of Castner Range at Fort Bliss in El Paso Texas. We now have an opportunity to protect, in perpetuity, these precious resources through the creation of a new national monument. To learn more please visit our website.
