Frontera Land Alliance is very active, from a Water, Wildlife & Natural Resources and How They Can Help Your Clients, participating in Celebrate our Mountains with a guided hike at Resler Canyon, to clean-ups at Resler & Thunder Canyons.

Work Days:

last Saturday of each month, from 9 a.m. to noon.

1. Help restore and manage the Keystone wetland! These “Keystone Work Days” will be held the last Saturday of each month, from 9 a.m. to noon. Frontera assists in the works days by providing tools, but more importantly Resler Canyon flows into Keystone, it is important that we manage both sites. Meet at the Keystone Park (Kappa Rd. and Doniphan Dr.). To RSVP or for questions contact Mike Gaglio at mike@hd-env.com.

  • Tuesday, February 6: a webinar, from noon to 1:30 you are invited to a free event, bring your
    lunch and learn more about qualified appraisals. Qualified appraisals lynchpin of the process
    that allows landowners to benefit from federal income, estate and state tax incentives flowing

  • Saturday, February 17, 9 to 10:30: we will be meeting at Thunder Canyon for the kick off of a
    new program “Focus on Nature”. Through taking photographs we will show you how to connect
    with nature by really looking. Bring your cell phone or a camera as we focus on nature.

Attention!

We will be hosting a fall workshop on land conservation Friday, October 27 for realtors, attorneys and CPA’s to assist them in knowing the various preservation options available to their clients. CLE credits will be offered. More details to follow!

Then for landowners, on Saturday, October 28, we will host a half day workshop in Socorro. At this workshop landowners will learn about the various methods available to them to conserve their ranches, farms and open natural areas, but yet still own and work the land. More details to follow!

Saturday, October 7 a guided hike will be held at Resler Canyon starting at 9 a.m. We will meet at Resler Canyon, Cadiz St. on the west side of El Paso.

Sunday, October 8 a guided hike will be held at Thunder Canyon at 9 a.m. Meet at Oakcliff off of Pebble Hills. From I10 Exit Sunland Park Drive, head East. Stay on Sunland Dr., the name will change to Shadow Mountain as you cross Mesa St. Take a right onto Pebble Beach Drive. Follow this road to Oak Cliff Drive where you will take a right. Oak Cliff Dr. dead ends at Thunder Canyon.

Saturday, April 1st

The first Frontera Photo Hike will be held Saturday, April 1st, at Poppies Fest. The 30-minute photo walks will start at 10:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. The photo walks are open to all ages where you will be able to explore nature through a lens! The photo hikes will be led by Brenda Berumen. Space is limited to 10 people per hike, so please RSVP to janae@Fronteralandalliance.org or sign up at Poppies Fest. We will meet at the Frontera Booth at Poppies Fest. These photo walks will take place every six weeks.

We will meet at east end of Oak Cliff St in parking area. The hike will be about 1 miles round trip and relatively easy, but is a rocky surface with some uneven ground.

Volunteer Work Days at Resler Canyon

May 7, 2015 & May 17, 2015

Volunteers spread native seeds which were collected at Resler Canyon spring of 2014, collected trash and removed invasive and non-native species at Resler Canyon. Also El Paso Water Utilities loaded and carried away the trash and cut brush.
