John L. Moses was elected to the Board of the Frontera Land Alliance in September, 2011, following several years of service on the Frontera Advisory Council. He is director of Mountain Project Management, an El Paso-based management consulting firm. Recently retired as General Superintendent of Texas State Parks in El Paso, he joined Texas Parks and Wildlife Department in 2000 as Park Superintendent at Hueco Tanks, following a 30-year career in international mining and petroleum.
Moses, a life-long cave explorer and conservationist, is the International Secretary of the National Speleological Society and served as secretary of the 15th International Congress of Speleology. Locally, he is chair of the Mayor’s Quality of Life/Tourism Cabinet, a member of the Mayor’s Lyceum and the El Paso County Eco-Tourism Committee.
He received a BS degree from the Pennsylvania State University and an MBA from the University of Chicago. Commissioned as a U.S. Army officer, he served in ordnance and combat engineer units. He is a certified (Texas) emergency medical technician. Married to the former Margaret Allan, they reside in the high foothills of the Franklin Mountains in northeast El Paso and have 3 adult children.
